What is the difference between self-inking, pre-inked, and traditional rubber stamps?

Self-inking stamps have a built-in ink pad that automatically re-inks after each press, making them ideal for frequent use. Pre-inked stamps contain ink within the stamp itself, producing sharper, more detailed impressions - great for logos and fine text. Traditional rubber stamps require a separate ink pad and offer the most flexibility for different ink colors and surfaces.

How long do custom stamps last and can they be re-inked?

Most stamps are designed for long-term use and can produce thousands of impressions. Self-inking and pre-inked stamps can both be re-inked when impressions start to fade, extending their lifespan. Traditional rubber stamps can be used indefinitely with a quality ink pad.

How do I choose between different shapes like round, square, or rectangle?

The shape you choose should complement your design. Round stamps work well for logos, seals, or badges. Square and rectangle stamps are better suited for addresses, text-heavy designs, or structured layouts. Choosing the right shape helps improve readability and overall visual balance.

Can I use a different ink color later?

Yes, on most stamp types. Traditional rubber stamps can be used with any ink pad, making it easy to switch colors anytime. Self-inking stamps typically allow you to replace the internal ink pad with a different color. Pre-inked stamps can sometimes be re-inked with a new color, but switching colors completely may require more effort to avoid mixing.

How do I prevent my stamp ink from drying out?

To keep your stamp ink fresh, always store your stamp in a closed position and avoid prolonged exposure to air. Keep it in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight or heat. For self-inking and pre-inked stamps, regular use actually helps maintain ink flow, and re-inking when impressions fade will extend the life of your stamp.

How do I get a clean, crisp stamp impression every time?

For the best results, stamp on a flat, even surface and apply firm, even pressure without rocking the stamp. Make sure your stamp is properly inked - not too dry or oversaturated. Using the right surface (like paper or cardboard) and testing your stamp on scrap material beforehand will help ensure a sharp, professional-looking impression every time.
